16th EMS Annual Meeting
This year the Meeting & Congress of the European Meteorological Society will be taking place in the enchanting city of Trieste in Italy. We hope to see you at this important event, especially since one of our Physicists will be giving a presentation about RaZON+, our exciting, new and affordable Kipp & Zonen solar radiation monitoring system.

The Conference
The conference theme for 2016 will be ‘Where atmosphere, sea and land meet: bridging between sciences, applications and stakeholders’. One of the topics is about the fact that all components of the Earth system interact in the climate system and that climate change and its impacts must therefore be studied and assessed by considering all these interacting components.
RaZON+, the new and affordable solar monitoring system
Kipp & Zonen is specialized in the measurement of some of these components, solar radiation in particular. We can offer various solutions for solar monitoring, one of which is the new RaZON+.
Our Physicist Marc Korevaar will present this novel system during the conference. But if you already would like to have some idea of what RaZON+ is all about? Here is a brief introduction.
What does RaZON+ do?
The RaZON+ system for accurate solar measurements uses a DNI instrument and a shaded pyranometer to measure direct normal irradiance (DNI) and diffuse horizontal irradiance (DHI). From these measurements RaZON+ calculates the global horizontal irradiance (GHI).
What is new about RaZON+?
- For the DNI measurement Kipp & Zonen presents a new concept DNI instrument, with inherent low fouling sensitivity.
- The instruments in the system communicate through a Modbus protocol with the on-board microprocessor system. This means that you can connect all kinds of Modbus enabled sensors, such as temperature sensors. The data is accessible via Ethernet and RS485 ports.
- RaZON+ offers a complete web interface with data, graphs and status information. You can easily check this on the spot with your smartphone, tablet or laptop via WiFi connection.
What makes RaZON+ affordable?
RaZON+ is an all-in one system replacing a sun tracker, a pyranometer and a pyheliometer and it has built-in data logging.
