Published: Monday, August 11, 2014 ‘Discover the power of solar energy and design a complete photovoltaic system’ is how edX promotes the second edition of its Solar Energy course. This free online course starts in September and introduces you to the technology converting solar energy into electricity, heat and solar fuels, the main focus lying on electricity generation.

edX is the leading platform for massive open online courses (MOOC) for technical disciplines with more than 1,200,000 users. Founded by MIT and Harvard University, it unites leading educational institutions around the world with the goal to provide top level education for free. TU Delft is a world renowned Dutch technical university with leading positions in applied physics, sustainable energy and semiconductor technologies. The first edition of the Solar Energy course has been awarded the Open MOOC  for OpenCourseWare Excellence 2014.

The course is organized as a series of video lectures read by professor Arno Smets and will provide exercises and assignments to give insights into different topics.
