	Setting up a SOLYS 2 in Brasov, Romania On 24th October 2012 experts from Echipot S.R.L., our distributor for Romania, together with researchers from the Transylvania University of Braşov, installed and set up a solar radiation measurement system supplied by Kipp & Zonen.

	Kipp & Zonen goes mobile In response to the increasing number of visits to our website via mobile devices, we are proud to launch a user-friendly, mobile-optimised version. All the basic information you need is now available on your smartphones; from product information to finding a local distributor.

	Campbell Scientific Africa installs five Solar Prospecting Stations in Botswana and Lesotho Our SOLYS 2 sun tracker is the basis of many solar radiation monitoring stations around the world. These are related to solar energy generating projects. Campbell Scientific Africa (CS Africa) recently installed two SOLYS 2 Solar Prospecting Stations in Botswana and three in Lesotho. All 5 sun trackers are equipped with a CHP 1 pyrheliometer and two CMP 11 Pyranometers, one of which is shaded, to monitor direct, global and diffuse solar radiation.

	New Office for Kipp & Zonen France As from September 2012 our French team has moved to a new office. Kamal Sabra and Pierre Simonneaud are now in a spacious and modern facility that will provide the opportunity to improve and widen the support and services available locally to our French customers.

	Succesful Seminars in Indonesia and Malaysia Kipp & Zonen Asia Pacific organised seminars on solar energy measurement and monitoring innovations on 10th July in Malaysia and 12th July 2012 in Indonesia. Together with product and business manager Clive Lee from our head office in the Netherlands, I introduced the participants to the importance of solar energy measurement and the new instruments from Kipp & Zonen.

	New from Kipp & Zonen: the smart SHP1 pyrheliometer We proudly present the new Smart SHP1 pyrheliometer. The smarter way to measure direct normal irradiance (DNI). Based on our well-known CHP 1 model, but improved and 'smarter'. It has additional interfaces, faster response and improved temperature specifications.

	The Weather Observer’s Handbook featuring many Kipp & Zonen references An impressive new book has been published: The Weather Observer’s Handbook. It features a chapter dedicated to solar radiation measurement. We were delighted to get in contact with the author Stephen Burt when he informed us on the many references to Kipp & Zonen’s instruments. A great comprehensive book for anyone who is interested to learn more about accurate meteorological observations.

	Online data of a CMP 11 pyranometer at Bakker & Co Since 2012 the weather station at the facility of Bakker & Co includes a Kipp & Zonen pyranometer. They have chosen a CMP 11 because it corresponds with the meteorological network of the Netherlands. But also because of the waterproof socket that allows for wide variety of applications and years of usability with little maintenance.

	Out now: Newsletter 21 We are happy to present a new edition of our quarterly newsletter. This issue focuses on various applications in solar energy with cases from Chili, Germany and Spain. All including at least a pyranometer to measure global irradiance. But this issue also brings you the first preview of our new smart pyrheliometer; the SHP1.
