About EU PVSEC

EU PVSEC, the 33rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, is the largest international Conference and Exhibition for Photovoltaic research, technologies and applications. At EU PVSEC you will be presented with the latest developments and innovations in Photovoltaics and have plenty of networking opportunities and chances to conduct business. EU PVSEC is a renowned science-to-science and science-to-industry platform completely focusing on the global PV Solar Sector.

New from Kipp & Zonen: DustIQ!

It’s a well-known fact that to maintain optimal performance solar panels must be kept clean. Usually panels are cleaned at regular intervals, often this is done manually but automated robot systems are becoming more common. However, cleaning is expensive and the panels do not get dirty at a constant rate; sometimes cleaning is not necessary and at other times it is long overdue. Kipp & Zonen has now designed a system to monitor soiling in real-time, so that cleaning can be scheduled when it is most beneficial and cost-effective.

Our revolutionary DustIQ offers a new way of measuring soiling on PV panels. It is based on unique Optical Soiling Measurement (OSM) technology that we have been working on for the last two years at Kipp & Zonen and which was launched in May of this year at Intersolar in Munich. Visitors to Intersolar were impressed by this smart solution, especially in comparison to traditional systems with a reference PV panel that needs to be kept clean all the time. DustIQ does not require any maintenance; you clean it when you clean the arrays of panels that it is monitoring. You can mount DustIQ on the top, at the bottom or in-between panels. You can start with one unit, or have multiple measurement points across a site to monitor the varying soiling rates. DustIQ helps you decide when and where to clean your solar power plant and maximise the Performance Ratio.

What else can Kipp & Zonen offer you?

Of course, you know Kipp & Zonen for its high quality instruments for solar radiation measurement. In the PV industry ourCMP and Smart SMP series pyranometers are widely used around the world. The Smart pyranometers are a perfect match for networked solar energy plants, as these radiometers have digital signal processing and interfaces optimized for industrial data acquisition and control systems. Better solar irradiance measurements improve the uncertainty of your Performance Ratio monitoring.

Should you wish to measure direct solar radiation you need a pyrheliometer mounted on an accurate automatic sun tracker. For diffuse solar radiation a pyranometer is mounted on the tracker and shaded from the sun. For this purpose we offer you the RaZON+, an innovative and user friendly all-in-one system providing all the components of solar Irradiance; Direct Normal (DNI), Diffuse Horizontal (DHI) and calculated Global Horizontal (GHI), as well as sunshine duration and GPS information. The on-board data logger stores all the data, for digital download when you want it. The gear drive sun tracker is maintenance free and the new Smart pyrheliometer has a soiling resistant design. RaZON+ can be connected to, and log the data from, other Smart instruments and sensors and easily be integrated into the systems of a solar energy plant.

We are expecting you at booth A10!

Please come and join us at booth number A10 and learn all about DustIQ, RaZON+ and our other measuring and monitoring instruments. We will be pleased to answer your questions and help you find solutions for your monitoring and performance problems. Please share your insights and requirements with us; your feedback is invaluable for us to create new products to fulfil the current and future expectations of the solar energy industry.
