The 89th AMS Annual Meeting will be held 11–15 January 2009 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This year’s theme is “Urban Weather and Climate: Now and the Future”. A relevant subject due to recent events that point out the vulnerability of urban populations to high-impact weather such as hurricanes, floods and heat waves.

From January 11 to 15
Location: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

The AMS Annual Meeting hosts the largest exhibition in the atmospheric, oceanic and related sciences. Kipp & Zonen will be showcasing a wide range of instruments such as a LAS System, the Solys 2 Sun Tracker, a  MTP 5 Temperature Profiler and more.

We invite you to visit our stand, at booth number 726.

Along with the meeting the American Meteorological Society (AMS) also hosts conferences, sessions and symposia. One of these symposia is the Fourth Symposium on Lidar Atmospheric Applications. Lidar-based research has become part of the standard meteorological instrumentation. The basic technologies have matured and their applications have started to emerge as ground-based networks and space-based long-term monitoring tools to aid in climate research. This symposium is intended to bring together and review recent advances in lidar-based atmospheric application programs and activities.

Our product manager, Martin Veenstra, will give a presentation on ”Measurements of particulate matter over an industrial site in the island of Evia (Greece) using synergy of a scanning Lidar and in situ sensors during TAMEX”.

We welcome you to attend the presentation in Room 122A on Tuesday January 13th at 9:30AM. To view the abstract of the presentation please visit the AMS site or click here.
